Advantages: CONNECTS ANY DEVICE WITH A 3.5MM SOCKET TO YOUR CAR STEREO!

Disadvantages: IS NOT REALLY AN IPOD DOCKING STATION :(

Nowadays most cars have iPod docking stations, CD players etc but my old Punto has still got the cassette/radio as my means of in-car entertainment. Fair enough, as I mostly listen to the radio. Just recently, however, I've started to use my MP3 player a lot more and wished I had one of those iPod connections, but hey-ho, I thought, I suppose I'll have to wait until I get a new car...yeah right!

I was chatting about this one day when a work colleague mentioned cassette adapters. I'd not heard of them before so had a browse online to see what was available. Always being a fan of Sony and their good technological reputation my eye was drawn to this Sony CPA-9 cassette adapter. Managing to purchase it from Amazon for £7.99 used but in as new condition I looked forward to being able to finally have a more substantial library in my car at my fingertips.

The item itself just looks like a normal music cassette with a wire coming out of it and a 3.5mm stereo jack plug on the end. A very easy set up, all you have to do is insert the cassette into your cassette player and attach the jack plug into your iPod, MP3 player or any other media player that has a 3.5mm socket and Bob's your uncle, it's as simple as that! The cassette itself is very lightweight and made of durable plastic. I leave mine in the machine most of the time but it can easily be stored away in the glove compartment or other suitable area if necessary.

Does it work though? Well, the performance of this Sony adapter has not disappointed me one bit! The sound quality is exceptional and with the added bonus of a good car stereo the volume level can be quite loud if that's how you like it!

A good tip though is to make sure the volume on your device isn't too loud or it can cause distortion, so I find it better to keep the device volume a bit lower and turn up your stereo as this keeps the clarity even at high volumes.

I've found this item to be a real fillip whilst driving and have just purchased a handsfree for my Samsung mobile phone which has a headphone socket, so now I can play the music that's on my phone through my car stereo without the chance of missing a call, which had happened a few times when I had my music loud.

The price I paid for this has to be worth every penny, I would say, and once again I cannot fault Sony's quality when it comes to consumer electricals.

This Sony CPA-9 is currently available at Amazon from £6.89 new or £5.61 used which is great value to bring your car stereo well and truly into the 21st Century. My daughter is very happy now that she doesn't have to listen to my old music anymore and quickly unplugs mine in favour of her iPod every time she gets into the car, bless her!

So with its ease of use and supreme sound replication I will have to give this fabulous little adapter a famous five Dooyoo stars and highly recommend it to anyone suffering with just the option of a cassette player or radio.

I had one of these (my CD player's in the boot) and it broke, so I got a wireless one that connects to a radio channel and have found the quality much worse than the tape connector! Great review, well done on the crown!
