=Tesco Car Mats 4 Set Rubber=
This set of car mats is a Tesco own brand product, and can be purchased in store or on-line, I paid just under £10 for mine.
The set of mats is a 4 piece, 2 larger ones for the front of the car, and 2 smaller ones for the back.
I changed my car earlier in the year and have been slowly getting this for it, and mats are important for me, but I am not fussed on brand, more price.
The mats are rubber.
They are advertised as universal, meaning they should fit most makes of cars. I have a Vauxhall Astra, and they fit perfectly in there, I feel if you had a smaller car they may be too big for in there.
=Ease of Use=
These just slipped into the car, and at first they had the new rubber smell, but after about a week this smell disappeared.
This may seen an odd section, but if your driving you don't want the mat slip sliding underneath your feet as if your getting in after being in the rain, as I have visions of one foot in the car and doing the splits if my foot slipped. I have to say that none of these two have happened!
I find the mats easy to clean, they get rinsed in the sink and any grime disappears,
=Would I recommend=
I would highly recommend these mats, they are great value, do what they need to do.
A definite 5/5 from me.
When it comes to mats for my car, I am not too fussed about the style or look, I just want something that lasts. Last year, my car was written off and my other half was adamant I couldn't take my mats out of the car as they were too old and worn (they were about 10 years old) so not only did I have the hassle of buying a new car, I also had to buy new mats too.
When doing my weekly shop at Tesco's, I spotted these so decided to buy. They cost me just under £10 which was for four mats, two for the front and two for the rear.
The mats are completely rubber, with no carpet element which I liked as it means I am able to wipe them clean should they get any nasty stains or mud on them. As they are made of rubber, they don't move around in the foot wells either. I was concerned that because they are made out of rubber, they may be a bit slippery (when it has been raining etc) but I have found this is not the case due to the patterning on the mats.
They are advertised as being universal meaning they should fit into most models, I have a KA and have found that they are a little on the big side, especially for the rear foot wells however the front ones don't impede my driving and actually cover more of the carpet that previous mats I have had so it hasn't caused me any problems.
The only downside for me was the smell, they have been in the car for a year now and I can still smell rubber when I first get in the car!
Overall though, these are definitely a good buy, they are wearing really well and I would recommend.
I would give the product 4 out of 5 stars.
Thanks for reading.
I think car mats are pretty much an essential item to have in your car if you don't want it to get dirty. Our new Seat Ibiza came with car mats already in it thankfully, I think all new cars do these days, but we bought these car mats from Tesco for our old VW Bora. The ones we had in there were getting pretty old and dirty and definitely needed replacing and these were quite a bargain in my opinion. Our local Tesco is one of those big superstores where you can buy everything and they also have a great car section and a car cleaning bit outside too so we found these mats on show actually in the car section. For just £15 for a set of mats we thought that was well worth the price and not too bad to get for our old car that is falling apart and will need replacing soon. These mats probably add more value to the car than it is actually worth!
Mats are great for when you don't want the interior of your cars on the floor getting dirty. We live in the country and have a dog so if we take him out in the car for a walk in the woods he and our shoes will invariably be very muddy and dirty. What's nice is that you can step on the mats and get them dirty without fearing that you are getting the interior of the car dirty. Even though this car is old we still don't want it to get mucky inside as we still like to keep it nice. Plus, I find if you have mud inside then when you are wearing nice shoes and clothes these will get dirty so be able to stop this is great. You can take the mat out of the car and give it a good shake or also clean it and then put it back int he car looking as good as new again.
These amts are actually quite nice looking. They are made of black rubber and also have a black carpet section on them too. The carpet is quite thin and not like a shaggy carpet, its more cut right to the level but this is perfect for a car mat and you can actually use this mat to wipe your feet on if you wish to just remove excess dirt before it gets in the car. The mats fit perfectly in our car and cover most of the interior of the footwells that they go in. I like this because in the drivers seat they go well under the pedals so you have no worry about them coming up over the pedals and getting stuck. Plus they also cover all the carpet in the actual car and keep it looking as good as new.
The mats also have rubber bits at the top too which I like because this provides some friction and something for your foot to push against when yoga re driving the car. The rubber makes the mats a bit heavy too and once you place them in the footwells of the car they do not slip and stay in place which is good too. This is also due I think to the non slip surface they have on them so once in place you do not need to move them again.
The dimensions of the mats are given as height - 4cm, width - 48cm, depth - 76.5cm and weight - 4.03kg.
All in all a nice cheap car product that does the job they are intended to do.
