However, Kenwood's new spider roll gradually becomes higher towards the center, enabling this area to withstand more stress with less stretching. The design goal was to gradually transfer up-down movement outward to reduce stretching in the center area. As the spider's outward portion has more surface area to better dissipate stress from the center, this helps to reduce mechanical damage during increased excursion and enables the subwoofer to withstand more power.
