Most definitely worth a buy if you're into your car audio.

I was incredibly surprised when i first received this sub and put it in my car, the real car-shattering sound it pumps out leaves nothing to be desired. At 2500 RMS, it's a powerful sub to say the least and running clean power to it gives it a crisp, punchy note which allows a great premium quality sound - the best part about it is that it has a great range meaning low, long and deep bass is catered for just as well as the higher more punchy stuff.

Some negatives would obviously have to be the price, at over £600 it does not go easy on the wallet - but again this is a top of the range Pioneer so what do you expect? And it's not to say it doesn't justify this price, for the better sound quality it's most definitely worth it. However, another issue i've had is finding the correct box to get it tuned properly too. The standard box from my previous sub simply did not give the desired sound and i had to create a custom box before i could properly appreciate the almighty noise this thing pumps out.

All in all, if you're into your car audio most definitely worth a buy!

very powerful and good value from a leading brand

brought this very powerful sub woofer as part of an expensive install for my new car. although i paid quite a lot for the sub and surround i was very pleased with the power and quality it produced. i used a 1600 watt single channel amplifier to power it and the results proved fantasic. there was very little distortion even when pushed to the limit on very low frequencies it seemed to handle the basslines very well and gave a very clear and crisp and punchy bassline with and for all kinds of music.it seemed to perform best on rock and dance music delivering very punchy bass and also on some r & b tracks giving very low subtle tones testing it to its limits. have had the install well over a year now and have had no problems with it and i would recommend it to anyone who is after a very powerful unit.

Forged in brutal SPL competition, the TS-W5102SPL is Pioneer's most powerful subwoofer. Pioneer engineers have applied what they have learned from 3 years of SPL competition experience, including being the first to break the 180dB barrier in competition. But don't be fooled, this woofer is more than brute power - exceptional engineering has also created a woofer with the essential elements to create incredible sound with any music, as well.

These latest subwoofers feature a newly developed dust cap, which boasts far greater strength, yet barely any increase in weight. This is made possible by the use of Foamed Acrylic Polymer sandwiched between carbon fiber and glass-cloth layers. Foamed Acrylic Polymer is lightweight, but still offers outstanding heat resistance and much greater compressive strength than conventional foam materials - up to approximately 36 times greater than Carbon Fiber blended paper, depending on the angle of force. Foamed Acrylic Polymer also gives the dust cap durability to match its tremendous strength.

With up to 6000 watts running through the voice coil, an exceptionally strong former is required. Pioneer now uses Titanium, one of the strongest materials available. The result is 565% stronger than the former design.

TS-W5102SPL now features two 2 ohm voice coils. This design offers you the flexibility of turning it into either a 1-ohm sub (voice coils connected in parallel), an 4-ohm sub (connected in a series), or powering the voice coils separately (dual 2 ohm loads). More options, more power: that's what DVC (Dual Voice Coil) is all about.
