Pioneer TS W5102SPLThese latest subwoofers feature a newly developed dust cap, which boasts far greater strength, yet barely any increase in weight. This is made possible by the use of Foamed Acrylic Polymer sandwiched between carbon fiber and glass-cloth layers. Foamed Acrylic Polymer is lightweight, but still offers outstanding heat resistance and much greater compressive strength than conventional foam materials - up to approximately 36 times greater than Carbon Fiber blended paper, depending on the angle of force. Foamed Acrylic Polymer also gives the dust cap durability to match its tremendous strength. With up to 6000 watts running through the voice coil, an exceptionally strong former is required. Pioneer now uses Titanium, one of the strongest materials available. The result is 565% stronger than the former design. TS-W5102SPL now features two 2 ohm voice coils. This design offers you the flexibility of turning it into either a 1-ohm sub (voice coils connected in parallel), an 4-ohm sub (connected in a series), or powering the voice coils separately (dual 2 ohm loads). More options, more power: that's what DVC (Dual Voice Coil) is all about.
