Apollo Next Base SDV685-ACB ... bought this DVD player at Costco a couple of months ago - my father-in-law was in hospital for an extended period and we wanted to give him something to do, so we bought him Season 1 of The Wire and this DVD player. Since he s come back home, we have gotten a lot of use out of it on numerous train journeys. We have only rarely used it on battery, but when we have, it s lasted through at least one average-length film. Whether you are using headphones or the external speakers, the sound quality is great. Sony CDX GT828U ... bought this CD player to match my new blue Streetka. I liked the fact that it was black blue and silver as it matched my car perfectly - I have to admit that was the deciding vote between this one and another Sony. I bought it from Amazon as they offered the best price (£100 approx) and had it fitted at my local garage for half the price Halfords charge! Sony is a good reliable brand for most electricals, and as it was my first car & car stereo I thought I would play it safe. It has good features - it plays CDs, USB drives, and also has an aux socket so I can run my phone through it. The aux lead and ISO leads are included in the box too which is helpful. Saves you... Pioneer DEH 3000MP ... this back In December last year from Amazon to upgrade my in car tape player to a CD player. I wanted to buy a cheap CD player with a RCA pre-out so that I would be able to connect an amplifier to. The head unit itself looks really good and even better in dark conditions, as the dial around the volume lights up in blue and the other button number light up in red. As it is made up Pioneer the build quality of the unit is great, none of the buttons look cheap or as they are going to break. The volume dial works great.
