It comes with a variety of adaptors to make sure that your iPod isn t damaged during insertion/removal. The ...

... own this stereo purely because when I bought a new car in April, this was the head unit the previous owner had put in it. At first I didn t know that it was anything other than a standard CD player/radio and was looking at putting the stereo from my old car in before it was sold as it had a USB plug on it and I was used to having a variety of music available to me without having loads of CDs cluttering up my car. It was only when I went into the glovebox for the first time that I noticed that there were three leads in there which appeared to be connected to the stereo. These were an IPod connector, a USB interface and a USB lead (I still don t know what this is for,...

... a good stereo but I have always wondered about something when working with such electronics. Why would a consumer need a remote control for his car stereo? Its always really close and its not like you change songs from the back seat of the car. I guess the only reason to use a remote control would be to change the songs if you are standing right next to the car. But this is an IR (infra red) remote control .. so you have to point it directly to the panel of the stereo in order for it to work. I would be really glad if someone tells me how an RC makes your life easier in a car. We had an RC in our family 4x4 .. and we have never even used it. Its touch screen .. how m...

dhj1 Alpine CDA-9831R
... this alpine unit was not cheap compared to other brands I had to go for it due to the reputation of alpine for sound quality and build of the unit. The screen is great if a little basic compared to all the flashiness of some of the other brands but it is large and clear. I guess the styling is very simple and typical of alpine. The ability to play mp3s is a must because of the number of tracks you can get on to 1 cd. The sound quality is amazing and 50w x 4 is more than enough for most in car listeners although there are more than enough connections for separate amps etc including ipod and bluetooth handsfree. The unit has a solid feel to it and has so far pr...
