Well, Having used an alpine unit previously I thought id shop around to see what I could get for approx. £300. After checking out all the options I went back to alpine. The reasons simple. They don't make anything else apart from car stereo equipment, and as far as most people serious about audio know alpine is head and shoulders above the rest. What you don't get with alpine systems is the fancy graphics and millions of useless features common amongst the usual Jap stuff. Alpine quite rightly so prefers to let the sound impress rather then the pretty dolphins dancing on the display. If u have time to be watching the dolphins then you probably r going to hit something anyway. So the unit itself. Well build quality is excellent as to be expected of any unit from the major manufacturers. Toys - well it comes with a remote. Also it features BBS which is great because it picks up the treble nicely. Sound quality is the best ... that's why you buy this unit. The sound is amazing - though be warned any stereo is only as good as the speakers its played through... so if u have bad speakers don't expect this to suddenly make it sound awesome - though knowing this unit it just might. AS per usual it has faders, balance etc. The tuner is a tad fiddly but the reception is crystal clear and of course RDS allows u to know whom you are listening to. But the best it has to be the CD. The loading mechanism is just stunning. Press the button and the face slides down and allows u easy access to the CD, pop your CD in and it all closes itself up and starts. The WOW factor is definately high and everyone whose seen it is clearly impressed with it. CD sound is superb ... and has never skipped once even after taking speed bumps at a slightly illegal speed! Audio text also scrolls the song title if the CD has been written with it. In short the unit is stunning ... value for money, a
nd delivers the sort of sound that very few can touch ... and definitely not for the price alpine want!
I puchased the Apline 7852-R about a week and a 1/2 ago to replace my outdated sony cd player. The 7852R is a feature packed car stereo system that just calls out to be bought. the features include multi angle faceplate, dual illumination,3 gold plated pre-outs inc 1 sub preout, radio text, BBE, Ai-Net compatible for connection to Ai-Net CD chagers. Disk naming memory ,40x4 watt built in amp which sounds great. the look of the stereo is great ,finished in silver and digital buttons all over. The stereo is easy to fit in any car the has an ISO connecter and the system comes complete with this. It include a wireless infrered remote control to control, volume, track up and down, mute, CD changer(if connected), power (on/off), and changing between CD and TUNER. It can store 18 FM stations, 6 MW stations and 6 LW stations. All in all a great stereo
