Well, Having used an alpine unit previously I thought id shop around to see what I could get for approx. £300. After checking out all the options I went back to alpine. The reasons simple. They don't make anything else apart from car stereo equipment, and as far as most people serious about audio know alpine is head and shoulders above the rest. What you don't get with alpine systems is the fancy graphics and millions of useless features common amongst the usual Jap stuff. I puchased the Apline 7852-R about a week and a 1/2 ago to replace my outdated sony cd player.
