... it is large and clear. I guess the styling is very simple and typical of alpine. The ability to play mp3s is a must because of the number of tracks you can get on to 1 cd. The sound quality is amazing and 50w x 4 is more than enough for most in car listeners although there are more than enough connections for separate amps etc including ipod and bluetooth handsfree. The unit has a solid feel to it and has so far proved very reliable, the volume control has that alpine quality to it. Would definitely recommend this...more

Although this alpine unit was not cheap compared to other brands I had to go for it due to the reputation of alpine for sound quality and build of the unit. The screen is great if a little basic compared to all the flashiness of some of the other brands but it is large and clear. I guess the styling is very simple and typical of alpine. The Alpine CDA - 9831R is a great looking, great performing piece of car audio which brings some seriously great audio features inside your vehicle. The faceplate is able to be 'angled' to a number of settings allowing it to fit perfectly into dashboards which may be sat on an angle or where the head unit is mounted lower down. The colours on the main 4 buttons can be selected from 512 different variants allowing the illumination to blend in with that of any dashboard perfectly. This sterio is superb! Ive had it for a while now and im really pleased i decided to go with this one. I had looked at the sony range, but they sounded very 'tinny' in comparison in my opinion. The alpine gives excellent output wattage and has a good range of connectivity with it allowing you to conenct a whole range of other audio equipment to it. The built in MP3 player is obviously an added bonus, and allows you to have hundreds of tracks at once rather than having to find somewhere in the car to store all your cd's! also stops them getting nicked if the car gets broken into! but thats beside the point.
