The mp3 port allows you access to all your personal faves without the need to lug shedloads of cd's around all the time. It does struggle to read cd-r/rw a bit though. This head unit is a fairly decent entry level unit for those on a tight budget. The 50 watt built in amp is powerful enough for everyday listening, though the 'boy racers' out there might want to put an external amp in for that extra 'ooomph'. The function are easy to use and i had a full working knowledge of the systems workings within 10 minutes, even with my limited technical knowledge.
