JVC Entry level head unit. (JVC KD G342)
Member Name: soldierboy
Advantages: Cheap and easy to use. Good sound. Disadvantages: Not enough top end sound reproduction. This head unit is a fairly decent entry level unit for those on a tight budget. The 50 watt built in amp is powerful enough for everyday listening, though the 'boy racers' out there might want to put an external amp in for that extra 'ooomph'. The function are easy to use and i had a full working knowledge of the systems workings within 10 minutes, even with my limited technical knowledge. The mp3 port allows you access to all your personal faves without the need to lug shedloads of cd's around all the time. It does struggle to read cd-r/rw a bit though. All other formats worked great and the sound was good. For those audiophiles out there it gets a bit 'tinny' at the treble top end. The bas goes deep but and external amp and sub - woofer would be advisable. All in all a decent bit of kit for the beginner. Summary: Good basic unit to build a decent system on.
