Advantages: Packed with features and anti-theft is a bonus

Disadvantages: Problems may occur with use.

I bought this head unit for my car back in 2003. One of the things that drew me towards it was the motorized front panel that completely fold up when turned off, serving as a brilliant anti-theft device.

The unit itself pumps out 50w x 4 watts, or 32 x 4 watts rms. Which is good power. It also boasts MP3 playback. So you can fill a CD with MP3 tracks, and not have to have loats of CD's knocking around your car. I managed to fit betweem 10-15 albums on each CD, depending on length of album, and bitrate. Another brilliant feature that goes hand in hand with the MP3 playback, is the ability to browse your MP3 cd's by folders. So you can fill a CD with each albumin it's own folder, pick a folder from the head unit, and play that album as though it was a regular CD in a CD player.

On top of the features that it boasts it looks good, which is always a plus. The amount of times I've had people comment on it is amazing.

One thing to note on this device is that i had to replace the laser after about 2 and half years of use, which isn't ideal. And cost about £70. I have also read that when they get older, 5-6 years old, things can start to go wrong as things can become loose due to the mechanical faceplate.

Summary: Great MP3 CD unit, but doesn't support ipod connection like newer models.
