Y EXPERIENCE.

This is the stereo (head unit) i have in my car at the moment, i liked it the moment i first saw it in max power magazine, it got a good rating which is always a good start, so i thought id go take a look for myself. As i stated in my other review of kenwood car audio products, i like the stereos they manufacture but dont like the speakers, the start of a good stereo build (ice) i find, always starts with a good stereo as this is what controls all the sound.

It was my birthday weekend, and as such had some money saved up ready to buy a new stereo, unlike the new kenwood stereos which i dont like the look of, i actually liked this one.

The buttons were simply laid out and are easy to use, it has a good range of features, and although i never seem to use it, (apart from when i first bought this product for the novelty value) a remote control, now i ask you, unless your going to enter your car in shows, when are you going to use a remote control?

I loved the extra security bits and pieces you get with this product aswell, It has a removable fascia, or if you dont want to remove the fascia, upon turing off the stereo, the fascia will turn itself around, this will leave just a black face showing, and the buttons will be inside the stereo until powering back up (which is done by pressing the top right hand corner of the fascia) it also has the M.A.S.K system.

The M.A.S.K system is a built in security device, the stereo itself comes with a keypob. This keyfob must never be lost, otherwise this will render the stereo useless, the keyfob contains a code which must be entered into the stereo upon first powering up the unit.

The display on the unit will say "emit 1" when its first powered up, the keyfob must then be pointed at the stereo and the button pressed, until the signal bar is full, it will then say "emit 2" the button on the keyfob must be pressed again until the signal bar is ful
l.

After this the stereo will be activated, everytime the stereo power is disconnected, the above proceedure must be done before the stereo will work, so losing the keyfob renders the stereo uinoperable (unless you spend lots of money on a new one).

The menus are easy to scroll through, such as bass treble and fader etc.

SOUND QUALITY.

The sound quality of this stereo is excellent, it kicks out 4 x 50watts of clear crisp sound, theres an option to connect 2 amplifiers via the 2 preouts in the rear of the unit itself.

EASE OF INSTALLATION.

If youve never fitted a car stereo in your life, it maybe alittle difficult to do, there is an instruction manual to follow but if your lacking in experience or your lacking in electrical expertise, id get a proffesional to do it for you, afterall you dont want your stereo blowing up, or your car catching fire now do you?

A car stereo shop can install your equipment for you, the price of this various quite abit, if you buy an expensive stereo, you will sometimes get free fitting depending on where you buy it from.

The cost of fitting ive had quoted to me is £30, to give you a rough idea, but im sure this isnt a standard price.

RANGE OF FEATURES.

This unit has lots of features, its comes with an af/fm radio, with the abililty to programme in 6 preset stations to save you tuning in everytime you want to change stations.

You can attach a mini disc or a cd autochanger to this stereo.

It has dual illumination, which means you can have the buttons red or green.

You can change the length of time the stereo will run without anything being pressed on the stereo itself, such as 10 minutes or 20 minutes.

VALUE FOR MONEY.

Personally i think this stereo is excellent value for money, with the range of features and the sound quality this is worth every penny.

I bought this as a package, and so it came
with a 10 disc cd autochanger, if you buy it this way instead of buying them as seperate items, you could save yourself £30 or even more, so its well worth it if you have the money to pay for it all in one go.

I would recommend this unit to anyone, ive had it over a year now, ive had no problems with it, and now ive mastered the menus im getting the full sound potential.

ENJOY
