The choice was enormous when i was looking for a Cd in car entertainment system that i could use my Ipod to access the songs from, instead of carrying cd's everywhere.
First i went to halfords in charlton in SE7 as they have a good choice of updated models, i looked in the section that used Ipods and was happy they had over six models to choose from, the one that caught my eye was the Pioneer DEH-P6000 UB.
I was told it was the best one on the market to control my ipod. What you need to do is leave your Ipod in the glove copartment as the remote control supplied with the Pioneer unit control the Ipod unit. I was estatic....but wanted a good deal and thought that i would go to an independent shop...(as advised by Don't get done get Dom BBC1) so i drove all the way to blackheath...
I found out that it was the same price of £199.99 and decided to purchase one there. He fitted the unit for me within 20 mins.
I was well chuffed. Sadly five days later my car was broken into and my Ipod (5th generation £189) was stolen and the remote for the unit along with the cable for my garmin sat nav (cost to replace £18.99).
The unit needs to be used with the remote but the company i bought it from claim that the remote is expensive £40.
the unit is great, it plays wma files, mp3 files and also controls the Ipod.
the features are also great, it has 9 different options for changing the sound alone.
i feel the actual face off is strong but i am frightened the knob will fall off, as it is used as a curser knob. This is why i used the remote all the time.
The cd is located behind the face off so to eject a cd you need to press a button at the top it is NOT motorised, the newer model is motorised so i think i shall upgrade to this model it costs £249.99.
I hope this has helped, The unit is great if you want a wicked looking and great functioning model with great sound. it really enhances the speakers in your car. it looks nice at night, with the blue dash.
Never leave any valuables in the glove compartment you won't believe how many people are watching even if you don't see them.
