The MDX 7900R is close enough to the 7970R to warrant a place in it's opinion box I thought. I bought one of these about 18 months ago from Curry's for 200 quid. I have since seen them going for 150 quid in the same shop. The sound quality of this unit is very good, offering 40 watts into 4 speakers. I'm not sure how long it's shock resistant memory lasts, but it has never failed on me, on even the bumpiest Luton road. The radio has RDS EON fitted and of course CD TEXT on the MiniDisk. There is also the option of fitting a CD/MD changer unit if you wish. A friend fitted mine into my Vectra for me and didn't seem to encounter too much trouble, so it's pretty easy to fit. I have used the unit almost everyday since buying it and so far it has only played up on one MD - which happens to be the first one I recorded 18 months ago and is probably played the most. I suspect the disc itself may be starting to wear although it still plays OK on my Hi-Fi MD unit. All in all a good bit of kit, and if you can still get them for 150 sovs, you can't really go wrong.
THIS PRODUCT WAS A REPLACEMENT OF MY OLD SONY RADIO WHICH WAS STOLEN. WELL AFTER INSTALLING THE MDX AND LISTENING TO THE MINI DISC I AMAZED AT THE SHARP QUALITY OF THE SOUND THE ARE LOTS OF DIFFERENT OPTIONS ON THE MENU E.G CHANGE THE BACKLIT FROM ORANGE TO GREEN WHICH HELPS IF YOU OWN A FORD OR A MERCEDES. THE EASE TO FIT THE RADIO ITSELF. IT ONLY TAKES A FEW SECONDS SO YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO PAY TO GET SOMEONE TO FIT IT FOR YOU. THE EXTRA OPTION OF HAVING A CD CHANGER FITTED THERE ARE SO MANY I JUST WON'T BE ABLE TO TELL YOU ON HERE SO CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF AT YOUR LOCAL SONY SHOP OR SONY SPECIALIST
