Autoglym Super Resin Polish
Advantages: Excellent results, easy to use.
Disadvantages: High price.
My preferred car polish is Auto Glym Super Resin Polish. In my opinion Auto Glym products are from the more expensive end of the car care range, but they are worth the money as they consistently give excellent results.
The bottle I usually buy is the 325ml bottle and it usually costs around £10.00 from Halfords, but as it seems to last a very long time it still works out cost wise. I have just ordered a 1 litre bottle of this polish from Amazon.co.uk for £10.00 including delivery, which I think is excellent value.
The packaging of this polish is very smart and minimal; the label is mostly black and white with big red square for the Auto Glym logo. We are told on the front of this bottle that it is Super Resin Polish, a long term beauty treatment for all paint types including metallic. The polish is also by appointment to the Queen and the Prince of Wales, which to me is a sign of quality, I also like to think the Queen and Charles are out on a Sunday morning polishing there Rolls Royce.
The back of the bottle is packed with lots of information telling us that the polish gently cleans and conditions paintwork and gives exceptional protection. It is ideal for new or moderately deteriorated car paintwork, caravans, trucks, motor bikes, planes, boats, fibre glass and chrome. There are the usual warnings to keep out of reach of children, avoid contact with eyes and not to swallow.
The instructions are as follows, wash vehicle with Auto Glym Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner, not that I do, I use Triplewax Car Shampoo and that gives me a good clean base to start on. I then dry the car off thoroughly. I give the bottle a good shake and then apply the polish to a soft clean cotton cloth, I use old cotton cot sheets as these are really soft, and then using a circular motion apply the polish to the car, I do this a panel at a time, making sure I give a good even coating. When the polish has dried I lightly buff with a clean cotton cloth till all traces of the polish are removed and the body work of my car has a clean bright finish.
It is amazing the difference polishing what I consider to be a clean car makes, the polish lifts off ground in dirt and adds a new depth of colour to the paintwork. When you have finished a panel run your hand over the paintwork and it will feel smooth and soft, then run your hand over an unpolished panel and it will feel rough. A well polished car will repel water, rain will bead up on the paintwork and run away, on an unpolished surface rain will settle.
It is advised to avoid glass and plastic trim with this polish, I have not noticed any adverse effects from getting the polish on glass of plastic, but it is advised to use Auto Glym products to remove it. I don't, I just rub it off with a damp cloth.
In conclusion I feel that Auto Glym Super Resin Polish does have a high price tag but the finish is excellent and a small bottle lasts a long time as I only polish my car a few times a year to maintain a good shine and protect the paintwork. It works out cheaper than taking a car through a car wash every couple of weeks or paying for a hand wash and polish, and when the weather is good it's a nice way to spend a Sunday morning.
Thank you for reading.
