I have been out this weekend cleaning my wifes Mini as we are due to sell it. Now, as your aware if you have read my reviews, I am slowly going through some of the best cleaning products on the market for your car. Unfortunately dooyoo cannot list all of them. However, Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber is another fantastic product. Lets start off by finding out what this product actually does. The official line is that it restores colour back to the original on your plastic and rubber components. This is not a back to black product. IE it turns your bumpers back to black. Well it kind of does, but the product is not designed purely for black material. You know when you get out of the car and your foot scuffs the inside of the door and leaves that nice scuff mark? Well this is the product that gets rid of it...well and others aswell. It looks like milk and has the consistency of milk aswell. So spraying it can be abit of a pain and can go places where you don't want it to. I recommend that you spray it onto a microfiber cloth instead. Its got a slight lemon scent odour to it and generally is harmless to anything else that it may touch. So back to what its good for. The inside of your door, the dashboard, the steering wheel. How about the bottom door sil, the place that everyone forgets to clean. Anywhere inside the car that has abit of plastic or some rubber. It brings it up nice, brings back a shine. As I am selling the car, another part that is totally forgotten, is the engine bay. I would not recommend that you jet wash it because there is a lot of things in there that maybe best of staying dry. But like a lot of cars these days, a lot is covered in plastic. So this product is designed to clean all the grime, dirt, oil off those parts. Making the engine bay look brand new again. 500ml bottle will cost you about £6 if you look in the right places on the internet. Amazon and ebay to name a few.
Auto Glym's Vinyl and Rubber care is another product that has found it's way into our, now quite vast, car cleaning kit. It is a solution which cleans, conditions and protects vinyl and rubber, and has a variety of uses. Vinyl and Rubber care comes in a 500ml white bottle, with a spray trigger and 'on/off' safety cube on the nozzle. It is widely available from stores like Halfords, and also in some supermarkets. Halfords are currently selling it for £7.49 but it may be cheaper elsewhere if you shop around. The product is designed to help quickly and easily clean the rubber and vinyl surfaces on the interior and exterior of your car. For example door seals, and exterior trim. I have used it on both of these, as well as my dashboard, wing mirror casing, instrument panel and outer tyre wall. Although it won't repair damage marks on any of these surfaces it will make a huge different to their appearance and really freshen them up. Tyres will look clean and black again, door seals will also go back to being a fresh black colour, and a dashboard will have that new look about it that seems to slowly disappear over time. When using Vinyl and rubber care make sure you shake the bottle well first, then spray it liberally (for a high sheen finish) or sparingly (for a low sheen finish) to the surface. If you would like a high sheen finish then you can leave the cleaner on the surface for a few minutes then buff away gently with a cloth, if you prefer a lower sheen after use then wide away any excess liquid immediately with a soft cloth. After this, simply buff with a soft cloth and the surface will look fresh and conditioned, with the colour restored. I like both the high and low sheen, I find the low sheen best for door seals, but higher sheen looks better on the dashboard and exterior trim. The cleaner is a blend of polymers and emulsifiers which gently clean and create a tough but flexible barrier over the treated surface. The barrier is also moisture repellent and antistatic so you'll get a nice beading on your exterior trim when it rains after using this, and your door seals won't attract dust or 'bits'. The cleaner is clear with a slight yellow colour, it has a fresh citrus scent which lingers on the area slightly making your dashboard smell great. I think this is a great product to have, and I would recommend buying it as part f a car cleaning set, or to add to one. It's a great surface cleaner and leaves a good finish on both interior and exterior surfaces, the colour of my door seals is particularly impressive after using this and it's a product I'll continue to buy, especially as it lasts so long! 5/5 for me.
Another quality product from Autoglym. Autoglym vinyl and rubber care comes in the same style bottle such as the fast glass and clean wheels. The bottle is a standard 500ml capacity bottle complete with spray mechanism. Twist the square nozzle at the end to 'ON' and simply pull the trigger to spray the cleaner. Once finished, twist the nozzle back to the 'OFF' position. Store in a cool place out of direct sunlight. Again found in most reputable car accessory shops and supermarkets, this particular product costs approximately £6.50 (£6.49 in Halfords who are currently offering 3 for 2 on cleaning products) Autoglym vinyl and rubber care is for use on car dash boards, door panels, facias vinyl roofs and car door rubber surrounds. I have been using this for a number of years now, the dash of my car looks as if it has just left the showroom yet it is six years old. For best results, spray the cleaner on to a lint free cloth, not directly on the panels, and slowly wipe over the surface to be cleaned. The surface will instantly look shiny. If heavy soiled panels, spray directly onto the panel and leave to soak for a minute or so then wipe with a clean cloth. Be careful near car windows as it tends to smear on glass and needs cleaning off. The cleaner has a nice fresh smell to it as well, so with cleaning, you also freshin up the smell of your vehicle. If used regularly, Autoglym vinly and rubber care builds up an anti static silicone barrier which protects from moisture, dust, oxidation, and staining. Car interior will shine and be easier to clean going forward. A good tip is to carry a dry clean microfibre cloth in your car which can be used to wipe dust off the dash on a daily basis, this stops the need for using vinyl and rubber cleaner on a weekly basis. Overall, one of the best interior / cockpit cleaning products I have used. Gives a good lasting shin to surfaces and builds up a good barrier to protect panels. Keeps door rubbers clean and flexible which contributes to a long lasting quieter car. My only negative comment would be the dashboard in strong sunlight can reflect too much in your windscreen.
My husband is the main driver in our household and as such chose the car when it came to buying at the end of last year. Now when it comes to cleaning the car it no longer is just his car it becomes "our car "and I am very hands on with all the maintenance. There are numerous brands and products available on the market today all designed to help with the upkeep of your car and be simple and easy to use. My husband often likes to look in Halfords to see what products are new but will time and time again come back with an Autoglym product. They are an established company that sells a variety of products for the maintenance of your car. The product that I want to review today is Autoglym vinyl & rubber care. The packaging; It comes in a white plastic bottle with a trigger spray, with off and on clearly marked on the nozzle for safety. on the front label in the centre is the brand logo clearly marked in big white capital letters with a yellow background with the product detail listed underneath, vinyl & rubber care. It also states it conditions and protects interior and exterior trim and can be used for trucks, boats, caravans and similar household surfaces although I have not tried and tested them. The size of this bottle is 500ml. The product; The product has an amazing variety of uses, we use it for cleaning the interior dashboard and the door panels, the rubber door seals, the floor mats and even the tyres. If you want to use it on the tyres you must make sure they are clean and dry before usage of this product, it will not clean the tyres but it will darken them and give them a nice new look finish but be careful not to spray onto the brake discs or your brakes will not work! my advice would be spray directly onto a cloth first just to be on the safe side. Also just use on the outside wall of the tyre and not on the main tread otherwise it could reduce traction. It can be used for cleaning all the nooks and crannies in the car too, like the cubby holes. It is suitable for cleaning plastic, wood and laminated interiors. As for the exterior of the car well as I afore mentioned we use it on the tyres but it can be used on the trims, vinyl roofs, engine, mud flaps and bumpers. It will not cover any scratches but will restore colour and give that new look finish. If you wish to use it on the engine you must clean it first, of course Autoglym have a product for this (Autoglym engine cleaner) you may then spray on vinyl & rubber care and allow the product to dry to provide a moisture repellent finish. The product works extremely well and because it has such a variety of uses proves to be exceptional value for money. It leaves a really fresh lemon scent which lasts for a day or two after use and masks unwanted smells not that our car has any! The product is cream/lemon coloured and has the consistency of water so being coloured could resemble a squash and as such should be kept well out of childrens reach. Before use shake well and then spray directly onto desired area and polish with a clean cloth. If you want a high sheen you can apply more product, leave for a few minutes and polish frantically to get desired finish. If you want a more matt finish apply less product and polish immediately. We find the product works brilliantly on the floor mats, they start of looking all scuffed and slightly muddy but after a few squirts and a wipe they come up like new - brilliant. Finally a product that actually does what it claims to do. Better than that it helps to prevents dust, is anti-static and helps protect against long term sun damage on your interior dashboard and instruments. Where to buy; As I stated earlier we think it represents great value for money, but when it comes to buying it you really must shop a round. We have personally bought it in Halfords for £6.49 but shortly afterwards I found it on line at several different on line stores for considerably different amounts, in one store they wanted £12.00 a bottle! I have found a website called Glymyourcar who sell it for an admirable £3.99 my advice would be if you have a car and you like it kept clean then buy it, you will not be disappointed. Check out all the other products that Autoglym have on offer too, you name it they sell it.
