“ Manufacturer: Minky / Type: Chamois „
A proper chamois leather is really expensive. I've had one before and in a new house move misplaced it! I saw this synthetic one at Sainsbury's and decided that for the price, I'd give it a go.
*Price and availability*
The synthetic chamois leather is from Sainsbury's and cost me £4.49. you can buy it in store or online. This is much cheaper than a real one and those can set you back up to £20!
The synthetic cloth measures 43 cm x 32 cm. It looks exactly the same as a real chamois leather. It is beige and thick and feels really good quality. It does not rip or tear easily.
The cloth is hugely absorbent which is great as it takes loads of moisture off the car. After a good rub down with the chamois, the car dries without streaking and there are no fibres left on the car, unlike when I have used other cloths on the car. It is really soft when damp and gentle on the car's vulnerable paint work. It does not scratch it or cause any scuffs. It is also really easy to wring out and it is really surprising just how much liquid it can hold. When it comes to cleaning the cloth, you can wash it in the washing machine and then hang on the line. The cloth does dry hard and crisp so you need to moisten before use.
I think the cloth is really good value for money, especially compared with the prices of the real chamois leathers! I would have preferred it to be a little bigger; however for the price I am fairly happy with the size.
The cloth seems really long lasting which is great and so long as I store it properly, I think it will last for years. A great investment.
