~Car care wipes from Simoniz~
***********************

I must admit that that I do tend to prefer using good quality car care products as I feel they can help to give your car that just stepped out of the showroom finish. When I used these Simoniz jumbo matt dashboard wipes I only did so as they had been bought at a bargain price and seemed to be something that would be useful to have as a stand by, to help clean the interior plastics, vinyls and hard finishes in my car. I thought that the pack with its bright colours stood out amongst others on the display in store when I saw it and I recognized the Simoniz brand which I felt was a trusted one, although it is not my ultimate favorite car care brand.

~Using the wipes~
**************

When wanting to use one of the wipes I found it very quick and easy to gain access to a fresh wipe, as all I had to do was peel back the slightly sticky front central panel and pull out a fresh wipe ready for use. This panel can be stuck down and pulled open time after time, until it eventually becomes quite dry around the edges, so that it looses its stickyness and cannot completely seal up the pack anymore. I bought these wipes as they promised to be a matt finish wipe that wouldn't leave marks and smears on the hard surfaces that I wanted to clean in the car. I also thought that the sound of them being a jumbo sized wipe may mean that I used just one to complete the task, rather than having to use multiple wipes.

The pack information promised to help clean and restore surfaces made from plastic or vinyl as well as help to pick up dust and dirt along the way, which again sounded very promising. In use I found that these wipes had a nice feel to them with them being neither too thin or too thick to be able to work with. I found that these wipes tend to fluff up a little after a lot of use if used too vigorously and could sometimes catch and leave threads of the material behind. The wipes are fragranced quite strongly with a bend of fruits of the forest and orange oil and whilst this is very synthetic it is pleasant enough in my opinion as it leaves the car smelling clean and fresh. The wipes could be used to clean quite a large area, which was something I expected with them being larger than a normal sized car care wipe, so one wipe was generally enough.

The main issue I had with these car wipes was really the fact that they didn't seem to be able to give me the super matt finish on plastic and vinyl that my usual car care spray cleaner can. I really don't like to see smear and wipe marks on the matt plastic areas of the car and I found that these wipes left smears on many areas which I could see quite prominently, as they were in my view line on the car dashboard. Whist the wipes most certainly picked up any dust in their path which I was pleased with, this leaving of smears around many of the un-textured black surfaces of the dashboard was rather unsightly to my mind.

These wipes even left some marks on the textured soft vinyl parts of the dashboard which normally don't show any wipe marks at all after a quick going over with my usual car cleaner and a soft cloth. I used these wipes in the other car that I have access to and they worked much better and I feel this is mainly due to the different type of surfaces they were used on, as the other car has a completely different finish to its dashboard and other surfaces. This leads me to say that these seem to work well enough on semi matt plastics and vinyls as they don't leave marks or smears at all, however when used on really matt soft toned black plastics and textured soft touch lighter toned matt vinyls they can and do leave unattractive smears which are very irritating to see.

~Product rating/ price~
******************

As the results with these were so very hit and miss I feel they only deserve a mid point 3 star product rating. I paid just £1.50 for these as they were highly reduced. You can expect to pay closer to £3 / £.50 for a pack of these wipes at normal sale prices. In future I will continue to stick with my usual car care spray which is Meguairs Quick Interior Detailer spray, as I feel this product is far superior to anything else I have used.
