Advantages: Came with all the bits.

I got one of these and had to take it back! I got it to replace a previous rack which had given up through old age but which had the bike mounted on its saddle and handle bars. There was no way in which I could lift my bike above my head (even from a stepladder!) at full armstretch across the roof of the car with the bike the right way up. I don't know if any of the designers have noticed but bikes are top heavy and are therefore very unstable like this. They also have no hand purchase on the lower half. I know I am only a mere female (which makes me slightly shorter and a little weaker than most men) but I am, like many other women, a cyclist, and feel that it shouldn't be impossible to come up with a design that suits us too. I am not even a very weak female so if I couldn't do it, neither can many others. Upside down works fine, even for me, so why can't I find any replacement racks that mount the bike upside down like my previous one? I also found it quite difficult to mount the bike onto the rack even at ground level as with my bottle carrier fitted I needed to roll the bike forward and backward to get the locking arm below the bottle cage but past the chainring. As the area for standing the bike on the bars was so short, this was not possible without it dropping off its support. I simply couldn't get it to work so I returned it. I had no other difficulty. The bits were all there and I got a prompt refund so the service was good, but I still haven't got a bike rack I can use!
