Advantages: very strong.

Disadvantages: A little awkward and heavy.

Disklok, a very good steering lock. This device is a large, yellow, highly visible deterrent. It can't easily be removed wihout a key. It's just a sign of the times that the firm spells DISK with a K, it's also a sign of the times that these items are a must, as so many alarms are ignored, and other steering wheel locks are simply removed by bending the wheel.

I did mention that these come in Hi-viz yellow, which is true, although you can now buy them in titanium silver as well as black and also chrome & black if you prefer. These are approved by Thatcham (cat 3) and are marketed as THE STRONGEST & MOST EFFECTIVE FULL COVER STEERING WHEEL LOCK, IN THE WORLD.

I suppose it is worthy of note, that it does take up more space when not in use, this can be a problem, and if it ends up in the boot, then it won't actually get used, so not a lot of good then.

They come with a storage case, and are available in three sizes, and not only stop your car being stolen, they also protect the airbag from theft, which is something which is catching on. The situation is that while radios, CD players, and modern MP3 players all come pin number protected, your airbags are both easier to steal, and also have no built in security.

The smallest versions (and therefore lightest) weigh 3.8 Kilos, and the inside is covered with a velvet type material to protect your wheel. You get three keys to start with, although you can get more if required. The device is covered by a three year guatantee.

Auto Express made this an award winner in the years 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004, and Revs Car magazine declared this the Best Buy in 2001 & 2002. What Car? magazine did the same for the years 2000, 2003 & 2005. Construction is of steel. The RRP of the smallest ones, is £69.99.but we all know we can get them a lot cheaper than that. Even Argos have them for less than £55.

Please think about car security.

Summary: All in all, a very good bit of kit.
