Advantages: inexpensive but NOT poor quality!
Disadvantages: None to date
I have bought several sizes of Falken tyres for different vehicles over the last few years with no complaints whatsoever.
Of course, these might not the "absolute best" tyres you can buy from a technical view, but they are very good - and certainly great for the price you pay. Most motorists will never get close to extracting the last ounce of performance from their tyres - so looking for a good all rounder that represents good value - especially with motorinfg costs soaring, is becoming a key consideration in running costs. Having a totally top end tyre does have some advantages - but the question is will you really use that - most tyres today are all pretty good, with Falken representing a good middle ground / inexpensive performance tyre.
On a 98MY non PAS fiesta they really lightened up the steering vs the original goodyears, but did not adversely affect the cornering / braking feel of the vehicle at all. Wear has been no worse than any competitors including the top brands - so delighted
Recently re-shod my 96 MX5 with 185 60 R14 for £35 per corner including valve and balance at an independent - vs about £50+ for "top" brands (so thats 60-80 less for a full set) - and really pleased. Noise is good, great grip - at at that price if I do feel like "enjoying the odd tail slide" - it doesnt cost the earth vs many of the other makes when I eventually need a new set of rears . I can't say a bad word for these.
Summary: The best of both worlds - performance AND Value.
