Advantages: Great dry grip, decent feedback up to the limit
Disadvantages: A bit vague in the wet, not so good if you overstep the mark
I started using the T1R on reccomendation from a friend with a mk2 MR2. They seemed to push all the right buttons; high performance tyre, decent wet weather performance cheap to buy.
I've not been disappointed either. In the dry these are nothing short of brilliant for the money. Great road holding capability and excellent traction, and the feedback isn't too bad either. You can chuck it into a corner with absolute confidence and they'll keep on gripping. When you do manage to overload them they become a little vague, not providing quite the same information they do when they grip and they dropoff quite quickly once you reach their limits.
Not bad in the wet either for a summer performance tyre. Although they do dropoff very quickly if you get into a corner a little too quick and you have to be on your toes as they are extremely vague. It's not really much of a problem as you shouldn't be pushing it too hard in the wet anyway, but if you do overstep the mark they are a bit low on feedback.
Road noise isn't too bad either I thought. The budget tyres that came with the car were much noisier and created an absolute racket at anything approaching motorway speeds, but these aren't too bad at all. Certainly not loud enough to make a noticeable impression on the driving experience anyway.
Overall, a very good tyre although I'd prefer it if the compound was a little more linear in the wet.
Summary: Great tyre in dry, not quite so good in the wet
