Advantages: Great dry handling, deep tread

Disadvantages: Spin in wet conditions, tyre wall flex

I recently purchased a set of Toyo proxes T1-R tyres for my MR2 turbo as my previous set (goodyear eagle f1's) had quickly become very slick.

They are set as a performance fast road tyre, and are less expensive than some of the bigger brands, such as Goodyear, Pirelli etc.

First impression when they arrives was how deep the tread is, i know they were brand new but the tread must have been 15mm deep, if not more.
The v-shaped tread also looks great for those that care what their car looks like.

Since i have had these fitted i am very confident in their capabilities in dry conditions to hold the road and prevent the rear end from trying to slide outwards (unfortunately on regular occurance in a mid-engined car), although in the wet they dont perform as good as i had hoped (certainly compared to the Goodyear f1's).

Even on mildy damp roads they can spin if the accelerater is pushed hard from a standing position, before finally gripping the road.

The tyre walls dont feel as strong as my previous set, it may sound strange but sometimes while cornering hard at reasonable speeds it feels like the tyre wall is flexing a little too much. This isnt very re-assuring.

All in all, these are very good tyres in dry conditions, but need a little bit of respect when its wet or icy outside (although they will still outperform all of the budget brands available, and most of the mid priced performance tyres).

Summary: Good tyre for the price, just be carefull in the rain.
