After I slid, not so gracefully, sideways around a roundabout, hoping that I would not crash, I decided that I needed to replace the rear Pirelli tyres on my 8 series.
Having had the front shod in Vredestein Sessanta, I knew this was what I wanted on the rear. I believe they came recommended at the garage, hence why I had them put on the front.
They are a mid-range priced tyre coming in at around £120-140 for each of my 18" wheels.
The tread is distinctive, and though aesthetics shouldn't really come into choosing a tyre, they are pretty.
I have driven around 4000 miles on them and they still have excellent grip, even in wet weather and light snow. I haven't dared test them in deep snow as the 8 series would probably kill me! They are wearing well and I don't expect to have to change them for a while.
There is no drama under harsh braking, they do not let go, and there has been no further drama going around roundabouts either.
Compared to my old rear Pirelli tyres, the road noise has increased slightly, so this is something to consider.
The only other issue is finding stockists for them, though they are available online in a limited range of sizes.
Overall I would definitely recommend these tyres; they have proven have great grip and are excellent value. When the 8 series needs new tyres, I will be getting these again.
Excellent tyres and nearly half the price of most alternatives.
Vredestein Tyres - Advantages: Cheap, Good as Continentals (Top Gear or somewhere reviewed them..), Cheap! - Disadvantages: Wear slightly quicker than a continental but comparable to other tyres, umm - they're dutch, are they made from Hemp??, Really can't think of anything else!
