Advantages: sleek finish
Disadvantages: none
Playing cards must be one of the most inventive creations ever. Made up of four distinctly marked suits of 13 cards, ascending in numerical order from the value of 1 to 13, there are literally hundreds of games you can play with them.
It has to be said, that everyone should have a pack of cards handy at all times. Sadly, this isn't the way it really is, and I had a mad hunt a while back only to find we didn't have any in the new house.
A cheap pack of cards will cost around £1, but these Poker cards are just £2.95 at Amazon. So what makes them different from all the others out there?
Well, first up, they're slick and glossy. This basically means they're easy to shuffle, and they glide across the playing surface easily, which gives you that authentic casino feel. It also means they're unlikely to get spills and stains on them, and they're harder to bend, which is definitely one of the draw-backs from the cheaper brands.
The pictures are fairly standard, as is the blue background. To look at, they're nothing special at all, but that's not the point.
The best thing about these cards is you can use them for any game. I always think Snap is a good game to start little ones on, but then you can progress to Pontoon, any of the games with rude words in the title, and finally proper poker or blackjack. These cards are so durable they will see you through the whole thing.
Please note, the link to Amazon is for the James Bond tie-in 'Casino Royale' cards, which seem to be just as good, but aren't necessarily the same as these ones.
All in all, these are a nice set of cards that will bring you hours of fun and, should you get to casino level gambling nights, will hold up for you then as well.
Summary: do it
