Crowned Review Magic: The Gathering in general: Magic For Beginners (1597 words)

Rating:

‘Magic- The Gathering’ is a collectible card based game that was/has become very popular and has spawned a number of imitators. I was first introduced to the game in the mid 90’s when it was first introduced to the UK. A friend of mine told me about it and before long I had bought a starter set and began having friendly games with friends. Eventually the card sets got put away and I forgot all about it until recently. My ten year old son was talking about a new card craze that seems to be taking off amongst some of his friends at school and I realised he was talking about Magic cards. I dusted off my old collection, and became (for a brief ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Play with my magic wand (1624 words)

· Introduction My brother first got me into this game and I have been playing it non-stop for the past year. It is a trading card game from the masters of this genre the wizards of the coast. As with all their games it is very enjoyable and well thought out. · How it came about Richard Garfield was a game inventor trying to make it big in the world. After much work he invented a game using strategy cards and the building of small robots that he took to a games company to show them his ideas. Wizards was the company and they rejected the idea as it seemed to be a very complicated game to play, they did however ask him to go away and create a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Magic: The Gathering in general: Magic the way the money disappears (428 words)

I don't know whether to think of Magic The Gathering as game, a collection or a job! I started to become interested in Magic a couple of years ago, when I saw some fellow class mates playing the game. I started to watch them and learn th many rules involved in this advanced card game. Then idea of the game is to get your opponent/s life down from 20 to 0. You do this by attacking you opponent with a variety of creatures and sorcery cards that you pick up of your deck. This is fact just a more advanced version of Pokemon, with many more cards. You use land to create the neccessary 'mana' required to play a creature or sorcery cards from your hand. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Reasons why Magic has taken a fall (466 words)

After reading some of the opinions here I decided I would add my 2 pence worth. Alot of the other posts can tell you what the game is about but I want to say what it feels to be a magic player. (sorry but I can't help laugh at that.. this is the reason I stopped playing, I took it too seriously!!) I started playing Magic a good number of years ago, at the end of the 2nd start of the 3rd editions (I am sure someone will tell me when this was, my memory is not what it used to be!!) I was introduced to it by one of my friends who was a regular tournament player. We didn't play magic as a small distraction between classes but we set up a night of ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Magic: The Gathering in general: This table's not big enough for the both of us. (989 words)

Magic: The Gathering is a collectable card game, invented by Richard Garfield, and published by Wizards of the Coast. The game involves players using creatures and spells (which are represented by playing cards) to reduce their opponent's health to 0. The game will start with each player (called a Planeswalker in-universe) having a deck of cards (called their library), and 20 points of health. Each library must contain at least 60 cards, and there can be no more than 4 cards the same (with the exception of Basic Land cards, see below for a decription of the card types). Each player draws 7 cards from their library to their hand, and the game begins. ...  Read the complete review
