Advantages: Fun, and educational.

Disadvantages: None to speak of

My son has quite a few different orchard toys games, which he loves so after seeing and playing this game, at the kids section in a local book store, he had to have it.

Orchard toys make fun yet educational games. This game is for 1-4 players and aimed at the age range 3-7. However from my experience orchard toys are fun for all the family.

This game consists of 36 cards that make up 12 different characters.

The aim of the game-
Firstly all the cards are placed face down on the table. The first player takes a card, and places it face up in front of them, play continues in this way until everyone has had a turn. Next another card is turned over and the player can either add to their character if the have a matching head, body or feet, or they can place the card in the discard pile. The next player can then either take a card from the discard pile or take a new card. The winner is the first to make 3 full sets of character cards.

Packaging-
The box, is similar to all orchard toys, with bright eyecatching colours and pictures. This box is bright red. The orchard toys logo is present on all sides of the box. On the front of the box there is a large picture of two mismatched characters. The game description "Laugh at the silly combinations as you mix and match these fun characters" is featured on all sides.
The back of the box, has a picture of what all 12 characters should look like when correctly matched. The characters are, a pirate, a witch, a doctor, a scarecrow, a queen, a footballer, a cook, a policeman, a farmer girl, a musician, a swimmer and a fireman.
There is, as on all orchard toys boxes an educational guide, which states,
Orchard Toys fun learning games encourage children to communicate, share and play together. This product has been designed to:
Encourage observation
Develop personal and social skills
Link with early learning goals.
The box is made of a sturdy cardboard and has a fold in flap at the top to keep everything contained.

Inside the box-
There are the 36 cards mentioned already and a handy instruction leaflet, which has the instructions in several languages. The cards themselves are bright and colourful, and are fairly large, so good for big and little hands. They are made from sturdy and durable carboard, so will stand the test of time well. You can also wipe them clean, I wouldn't recomend sticking them in water or anything but if you get something on them a wipe over with a baby wipe will get them looking new again.

Other ideas-
I find this game can be played in different ways. When playing together with my child I found it good to play the way the game is meant to be played, but when he is playing by himself, I just let him be creative. I lay the cards out either face up or down and let him either match them correctly or just have fun making lots of silly combinations. Once he is finished making his people we find it fun to make little stories up for our unique characters.

Verdict-
I really like this game, its both a great card game to play as a family, but also a tool to help kids be creative and explore their imagnation. Once again I have nothing but praise for Orchard toys, I would highly recomend this game and others in the orchard toy family.

Summary: Great fun mix and match card game
