I always like to buy my children a few games for Christmas. This year I spotted a game of Yes! No! and was immediately interested. The box stated this was a card game that you couldn't say no to. As we were due to have visitors of various ages staying over the Christmas holiday I was pleased to see that the game was for 2 to 6 players of ages 8 and up.
The game.
*********
On opening the box you will see a silver bell and a pack of 50 cards. Each card has a series of questions printed on. For example do you watch T.V? Do you watch a soap? Which one? Don't you think that's a bit stupid? The youngest player starts by taking a card and then reading the questions quickly to the player on their left. The idea of the game is to avoid saying yes or no when asked the questions. It is much harder than you think! If you manage to answer all the questions without saying either yes or no then you win the card from your opponent. However if you do say yes or no then the player asking the questions gets to keep the card. As soon as a player says yes or no the player asking the questions rings the bell. The player with the most cards at the end of the game is the winner.
My thoughts.

This is a hilarious game to play and was really enjoyed by all who played. The questions do need to be read quickly though. My 5 year old wanted to play although wasn't able to read the questions. We gave him the role of ringing the bell when someone answered yes or no to a questions. He was very happy to have this responsibility and felt included. We adapted the game so that more than 6 could play by playing in teams. This meant each team took turns in being the player to ask the questions. Unlike other question and answer games where you eventually get to memorise all the answers, yes! No ! is different. It really doesn't matter if you have heard the questions before as what you are tying to do is avoid answering with a yes or no.
This really is a very simple game that is easy to play. It would be a good ice breaking at a party too. I paid £2.99 for the game from Tesco. It is made by Paul Lamond games and comes in a very compact box so won't take up lots of room.
I highly recommend this game and know it will be played with again and again in our household!
Summary: card game for ages 8 and up
