What's inside? ------------------ In my edition, which i believe is the amazon version listed on the right hand side, i have 300 poker chips, a set of cards, dealer and blind buttons and a handy case to cart them all around in. This is great because 300 chips is easily enough for anything up to about 7 players, meaning that you can have a big group wanting to play and with this you sti...more

Premium Review Poker Chips: Chip, Chip, Hurray! (649 words)
by - written on 01/10/08 (Very useful, 80 readings)
Rating:

Poker chips are as you can imagine used to play the brilliant game of poker; there are many different styles and qualities of chip each with a varying price bracket. It depends really on how much you play Poker as to how much you spend on Poker chips, it isn't really necessary to buy any at all. It does however make the game far more realistic and fun; it also makes it a lot easier to determine the amount of money at stake during betting. Usually the chips come in different colours, these being red, black, green, blue and white. At the start of a game of poker a value is designated to each coloured chip, red for example might be worth £1, whereas black could be worth ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A Royal Flush Of Quality. (557 words)

Poker is a classic card game that involves a player attempting to beat others by obtaining a wining hand of cards. There are many variations of Poker (such as Five Card Draw or Texas-Hold'em,) each different in their own unique way, but normally the objective is to win a pot of money that has been built up during the hand (round) through a series of bets. This boxed set contains 500 Poker chips of various values (colours), two packets of three Joker playing cards, 5 playing dice, and a white 'dealer' chip. All presented beautifully in an padded aluminium carry case. To simply call this item a toy or a novelty would be an insult, as it is a fitting tribute ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Poker Chips: They Are Useful But Not Edible (365 words)
by - written on 02/04/09 (Very useful, 44 readings)
Rating:

Poker chips are used as a substitute for real cash in a game of poker that is played for cash. However, in tournament play the chips will represent a nominal amount of money that each person starts the game with. The amount will usually not represent the amount of cash that a player has bought into the tournament for but will instead be an amount that facilitates the play in the game being interesting and lasting for long enough providing the opportunity for patience and skill to be factors in the eventual outcome. Think of poker chips in tournament play being similar to the pretend money in the popular board game "Monopoly". In Monopoly ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Chips - not the potato variety! (381 words)

Intro ------ I received these for christmas last year off my parents as a christmas present as they knew that i was getting into a few social poker games with my mates. We always seemed to be either massively short of chips or cards, or have no dealer button, little things that ultimately alter the night for the worse. However, once you have one of these numbers, you really cannot go wrong! What is it? ------------- Basically, it is a set of poker chips and cards which comes encased in a nice metal box, meaning that you can easily transport them from place to place. It also looks neat and functional from the outside, so you ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Poker Chips: Perfect Home game chips (159 words)
by - written on 14/07/08 (Useful, 35 readings)

For any poker starter looking to start up home games wither tournament or small cash games these chips will do just fine. The weight and texture is surprisingly good for the price rivaling sets costing up to £40. If this set can be bought for around £30 this is a great buy. The dice poker set usually includes 500 chips which allows for deep stacked games for up to 8 players, the perfect number ideally is a 6 man game allowing for very generous stacks and creates great gameplay. The cards supplied are decent and will not need to be replaced for a good couple of months playing every week for example. If the dice poker set is being used for a add on to existing sets beware ...  Read the complete review
