Intro

After a late night poker session with the boys at my house last night i decided to write about the benefits of having a bit of a get together for a casual poker evening.

It really does produce a really good way of keeping in touch with your mates and also having a nice social occasion. I will retell our events of last night and hopefully it may inspire you to do the same!


Our night
------------
We started off by having a good indian takeaway! You cannot beat these on social occasions! We had this delived for 7pm so that we could be ready and sat down at the table for about 8pm. This all worked out, and the game kicked off at 8.

We then played through about 5 hours of poker, with the game finally ending at about 1pm. This may seem massively boring to you, oh my god, poker for 5 hours, but it really is not.

The great thing about poker is that you only play about 1 in 4 hands if you actually want any chance of winning any money. That means, that on the other 3 hands your free to sit out, have a chat and a bit of a social with your mates, something i would only usually do down at the pub.

However, the pub gets both boring and expensive after consistent meet ups in there, so this provides a really neat alternative to get you the same social occasion, combined with a nice bit of poker involved as well.

It turned out, that one of my mates, joe, won the prize, a free drink off everyone! So he will be very much looking forward to the next night out i am absolutely certain!

So, if your getting a little tired of the same old social occasions, want to meet up with a few mates, and generally have a great laugh, then get a set of chips, organise yourself a poker night, and have some fun!
