Advantages: Reliable, cheap
Disadvantages: Not especially pretty
Another day, another card reader review - this time for the Veho VSD-001. I received the reader free with an SD card that I purchased a while back on eBay - however, If you haven't managed to get one of these for nothing, then the retail price is currently under £3 from amazon.co.uk.
Design & Appearance

There's no getting away from the fact that this particular card reader is fairly dull looking, with its transparent grey shell only providing a glimmer of visual intrigue by revealing some of the inner workings. The plastic is a little flimsy, but as a whole the device feels like it would stand up to a bit of rough treatment. The end that attaches to the computer via USB is covered by an easy to remove plastic cap, and is the end where the SD card slots.
Additional Details & Use

In terms of its specifications, the reader is compatible with SD, SDHC, plus the older MMC cards - and it doesn't matter whether it's used with either a Mac or PC. The device is compliant with USB2 speeds, so it's also pretty quick. In my experience, SD cards slide into the device quite effortlessly, and a small light illuminates when files are being read / written. I've now used the product for a long time, and it has served me well in terms of reliability - it's actually lasted a lot longer than the pricier Integral SD card reader that I also use.
Final Word

Even though it's not especially pretty, the Veho VSD-001 is a reliable and cheap card reader which does the job it's intended to do with no frills - recommended.
