Rover 400 ... I?ve just sold my Rover 400 after owning it for the last 5 years so it?s an ideal time to reflect on owning this car. If you are thinking of buying a Rover 45, then this will also be applicable as it?s an updated version of the 400. Two weeks after starting my first time job after university, my old university runabout car, an E Reg Astra decided to blow up on me. So with a proper job, came proper money and the urge to buy a new car! Well I didn?t buy brand new, opting for a nearly new car instead (the most sensible option in my opinion). Nissan Primera (1996-99) ... had one of these 5 door hatchbacks from new, and it's been a pleasure to drive throughout. The handling is superb, although the ride is quite firm. The 2.0 litre engine generates about 138bhp, but the car is lighter than some of it's competitors, so it seems more powerful, and acceleration is brisk, although the gearbox does not make much of an effort hiding the gear changes from you. Kickdown is effective, so overtaking is never a problem. There are 'sports' and 'snow' modes which can be activated by a button located, along with the seat heating controls, just below the handbrake. The sports mode does work, but, as expected takes it... Nissan Micra 1.0i 16v S 3dr ... feel sorry for my little car sometimes, I really do. I don't give her any love, care or attention. She sits, alone in the garage used, abused, battered and bruised and yet she still keeps on trying her best in the hope that one day I'll return that love. I haven't cleaned the inside since January; the dashboard is grey and doesn't show up the muck. I haven't cleaned the outside since November, the paintwork's still good and she hardly looks dirty.
