Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6 24V:
... the years since first passing my driving test, I have had dozens of cars and since I turned 21 and could get insurance for them most of them have been sports cars of one type or another. Alfa Romeo 156 1.8 Twin Spark ... bought one of these cars about 4 years ago as I was taken aback by the styling. It had the sports interior which I have always loved with Alfas, the little touches like the driver dials angled away from the passenger seat (so they can t see what speed you re doing!). I traded in a GTV as I needed something more practical and economical. The things I loved about the car....styling, engine, the fact it was an Alfa! I must admit that after about a week of driving the selespeed I started to regret my purchase. Despite Alfa evolving the gearbox for years it actually was a nightmare to use. Alfa Romeo 156 2.4 JTD ... ve owned my Alfa Romeo 156 JTD for 2 years now and it still puts a big smile on by bearded face everytime I get behind the wheel. I was never a fan of diesels but when I killed my last car in the great floods of 2006 I thought what the hell...gimme a big car with a big engine. I found the 2.4 and took a test drive, the torque was mindblowing and the noise from that five pot at full throttle tightened my trousers, I bought it straight away. As mentioned the fuel consumption should be good for 42mpg but the best I ever got was 36mpg on a drive from Glasgow to London, I suppose a torn boost pipe held together with cable ties didn t help lol Now I know Alfa have a reput... Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 Twin Spark ... 2.0 TS is of excellent quality and beautiful looking. It was my second alfa that owned. I only bought it in the first place to it having its distinct look with the number plate to the side, aggressive headlights and the amazing lines going across the side of the car. The 2.0 TS has a 154BHP engine so is quick off the mark compared to the 1.8 and 1.6. The centre console is facing towards you so it is all private, very nice. The main thing I like is how alfa have redisigned the 156 with sporty look of a coupe, it is a 4 door car that looks like a 2door with the rear handles hidden away, perfect for unwanted guests. : ) All the rumours that have been going round saying...
