Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD
by Autumnrose
My family and I drove to Las Vegas in the middle of the month. We rented a car to do so. When we arrived at the rental shop they did not have the car that we reserved which put me off a bit but I figured as long as they gave me something comparable I was ok. The auto that we ended up getting was the 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo ... 4WD. I was ok with this as we had a lot of mountain driving ahead of us and as luck would have it the day we chose to leave there was a nice storm blowing right down the path we had chosen to take.
We loaded up the back and were pleasently suprised with the amount of room it offered. We had the entire back seat left empty for my daughter. She is usally squished with the cooler and all the other things that she requires for her comfort in traveling. This time however that would not be an issue. As we headed out onto the highway the big huge snowflakes begin to fall.
I turned to look into the back seat and was happy to see that my daughter was quite comfortable and snuggled in with a blanket covering her she had a smile on her face happy to be driving it seemed. As we got further down the road and the condition of the roads worsened we had to slow down to a crawl several times. We were in no hurry and just wanted to arrive safely. The whole time the jeep did handle very well no sliding or skidding the trip so far was a cake walk.
As we continued with our trip the comfort of the seats seem to be lacking. My legs started to ache and my back was just killing me. As a matter of fact the only thing that was able to make it better was getting out of the Jeep. So needless to say as the trip wore on we were getting madder and madder by the minute as our body's screamed in agony.
We made it through the storm with out a single problem the whole time the jeep handled very well. I was beginning to see that this was perhaps not a long distance auto but a around town auto. As we pulled of for gas we filled up and were about to head out onto the high way when we started to have problems. The transmission was stuck in first. So my husband pulled it over and parked it shutting down everything and restarting it to see if that fixed the problem. It did so we continued on with our trip not thinking about it too much.
As we got into Utah and had to stop for gas once again we experienced the same problem but we were almost there and just wanted to get to where we were going as it was very late at night and nothing was really open. So we got back on the road having the same problem as before and fixing it the same way. As we got up the road a bit we had to stop for a potty break we chose St George as it was a good size town and they had many choices of where to go. As we got off the highway and went to the first bathroom we could find we parked and all of us ran in. We came back out a little bit later and guess what the jeep was stuck in first again as we tried to get on the highway. We pulled over and tried to reset the car. When we started it up again it was still stuck in first. No matter what we did it would not fix its self.
So we went back to St George where we waited for what seemed like forever (half the day actually) for the rental company to bring us a replacement car.
Now I understand that sometimes things happen with new cars. This auto has less than 5000 miles on it and there was no reason for it to do what it did. That is a lemon if I ever seen one.
Would I recommend this car to any one. Not on your life. Its just not realiable enough for me. Read the complete review |

Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4WD
by actionlaura
The model I have is a Grand cherokee Overland 3.0 CRD. I purchased it in 2007 (its a 57 plate). I had upgraded somewhat as my previous car was a peugeot 206 but having 2 small children and an Irish Setter I needed some more space! On the outside it is very pleasing to the eye, this model has returned to the more boxey style which looks ... strong but stylish. As I chose the Overland alloys come as standard but thats about it. The rear spoiler, kick plates and running boards had to be purchased seperately which wasnt cheap. I also opted for superguard paint protection to the tune of approx £200 but keeps it looking shiny and you get a wash kit with specialist shampoo's etc. Inside it comes with built in sat nav which has now been updated on the newer models. On mine you cant enter postcodes, only street addresses which poses some issues! The interior leather and walnut trim is smart and easy to keep clean. I opted for VES/DVD for the kids which was expensive but well worth it on long journeys! I have found though that any expense has been well worth it, it is a brilliant 4X4 to drive and handles well on the road aswell as in more unsavoury conditions. Snow and ice do not pose much of a problem which is a bonus as I live at the bottom of a very steep lane. Low 4WD is helpful in this situation as it is in mud aswell. It accelerates well for a big car and is easy to manouvre and park thanks to the large mirrors, front and rear sensors and rear parking camera. It also has a massive boot. It tows a large caravan with ease and has a decent steering lock for a big car. I would recommend to anyone. On the downside the car tax is currently £400 per year!! and tyres etc are expensive. Currently as fuel is expensive it costs approx £75.00 a tank as opposed to £50.00 when I bought it. Overall a great 4WD!! Read the complete review |

Jeep Cherokee 4.0 Classic
by doncasteryb
I have had this car a while now and to be honest it served me really well. It has got all the toys such as power steering, electric windows, air con, cruise, power seats etc. It is very fast for a jeep and handles well on and off road and because it's got automatic transmission it seems to just glide along effortlessly. Reliability wise, ... it hasn't given me many problems as I thought it would. These Cherokee classic facelift (1997-2001) models are becoming rare, so spares usually need to be acquired from the main dealership-believe me that's not cheap! As far as comfort goes, make sure you go for the ruffled leather option. I would recommend the vehicle, however, with fuel prices rising again don't expect more than 15 MPG, and that's a conservative estimate! Prices are really coming down to buy so you get a lot for your money. Read the complete review |
