... have just returned from a holiday in the South of France and we rented a new C -class Mercedes. (We have an E220 Estate and a Porsche at home) I have not been so disappointed for a long time and my wife was most critical of the jazzy curvy fascia. The seats are not as good as the previous C class - a wonderful car - and not as comfortable as on our 124 E. The main criticism is of engine noise and roughness of the 200K engine. This is just not good enough for a car of this price. BMW engines are far smoother and quieter. This is not only powerful but is also very economical and it delivers around 40 miles per gallon. ... me for not putting this in miles per gallon. I reach the 10,000 km tomorrow when I'm driving back home. I had only 1 minor problem with the car. The left hand side direction flashlight (I do not know the exact name for it) was not flashing on a signaled left turn. Instead the right one did. Unfortunately you cannot see this from the inside of the car. When I realized that I drove to the Mercedes-Benz Center in Kassel and they could not fix it immediately. It was on a saturday where they had only an emergency team at hand. I got a free rental car of the same type and was allowed to drive as far as I like with it. They would even bring my car on a truck back to me...
