Porsche 924:
... a very good gamble. It had 90000km on the clock, I think original. I had absolutely no problem with it, except the starter which broke, but that's easy (and quite cheap) to replace. According to my mecanic the engine almost runs like new.

Porsche Boxster S3.2 ... fantastic, this engine is so flexiable it makes you fall in love with the car alone. Drop her down a notch or two and with the roof up you just get the deep roar that I or no one on the planet can explain, you have to experience it, with the roof down you get a completely different noise, its like two cars in one, but I assure you the worst thing you can do is go and try for yourself if you do not have any means of paying for one, as I can tell you once you have driven one you will want one, thats a fact. Those that tell you they tried a Boxster S but thought it was rubbish and not worth the money are simpley talking pooh, they probably did not have the dosh to buy it. ... Porsche 924 ... weight distribution so whether on the motorway, county roads or the city the 924 is always willing. My 924 is a 1982 with electric mirrors and windows and a removable sunroof which is great in the summer. I can achieve 35mpg quite easily which came as a pleasent surprise. Running costs of the 924 are no different to a more basic cheaper brand car. The only thing that has gone wrong since i was on the road was the alternator. I picked one up for about £30 and fitted it myself to save costs. A purchase of a haynes manual means you can complete any maintanance or work yourself, not that it will be needed at all often!! Porsche 944 ... a fantastic drive though is the presence and feel that the car has on the road, it corners beautifully, the suspension being firm but not so stiff as to make it uncomfortable. Undoubtably one of the best handling cars of the 80's. For a budget of 4-6000 you can pick up a mid to late 80's, oval dash 2.5l that would have cost between 20 -25000 at the time. Cheap to run and find parts for through independant Porsche specialists and suppliers (250 approx for a 12000 mile service). I purchased mine at 170,000 miles and put it on a limited mileage classic insurance policy. What a waste of time, I couldn't get out of the thing (even though I was running 2 other car...
