Vauxhall Senator: ... the bells and whistles for the same price. When I reminded him of the fuel consumption, he countered with, "Well! You don't go anywhere, do you?" So, when I browsed around the forecourt of my trusted local garage a few years later, the gleaming grey Vauxhall Senator 3.1i CD could not be left behind. I handed over my £3000 knowing full well that I would never recoup the cost and drove happily from...

DiceyDC Vauxhall Astra Coupé Turbo Edition 2.0i 16v turbo 2-door
... it has enough toys to keep most gadget obsessive's like myself happy. However, I am about to trade it in, and here's why. Whilst the Astra is a cracking drive, especially when driven fast, with responsive handling and a very good engine and gearbox (which is exceptionally crisp,) it does have a tendency to stutter around town and, for reasons unknown (even after being checked out by a Vauxhall dealer) the gearstick will occassionally pop out of first gear. These however are relatively minor complaints - the reason I'm about to swap, probably for a 406 coup, is long-haul driving comfort. I'm 6'2", which although tall is not obscene, and afte...

G1NYF Vauxhall Frontera Estate Limited 3.2i V6 24v 5-door
... always liked the exterior style of the Vauxhall Frontera but never really planned to own one. The Freelander and Rav4 types were too light on the kerb weight, whereas the Landcruiser or Jeep was too expensive to run, we also wanted petrol as we intended to convert to LPG. Oddly, we set the vehicle we were to buy to have specific requirements. 1. Petrol. ...

ruclick Vauxhall Astra Mk II (1984-93)
... was my first ever car - an Astra 1.4 Merit. I loved it, not because it was so brilliant, but because it was my first car. But it's still in the hands of the family, and it's still going strong... Reliability and Quality Never broke down, never saw the garage for things other than services. Performance I found the 1.4 engine perfectly adequate. After all, the Astra was not a big car, and since the Merit spec is the very basic one, the engine did not have any excess weight to propel. Ease of driving No power steering, but who needs it in a car this size. OK, a bit of work is required when parking, but there's nothing wrong with a bit of e...
