Advantages: Well Built , Economical
Disadvantages: Expensive to Purchase
We have owned a Audi A2 1.4 TDi SE just under a year and can?t fault the car. I agree the Audi A2 is quite expensive for its super mini status but you do get money well spent in my opinion. We were looking for highly economical small car that offered flexibility in it?s design and these are all thing the A2 can offer in abundance. The main criteria, was to purchase a car of quality build that offered economy in its running costs. Being an ex-company car owner a diesel was the natural choice for economy. We regularly achieve 60mpg (415 miles on a full tank), thanks to brilliant little 1.4 litre diesel engine. A good thing about the A2 1.4 TDi is that?s comfortable at home either trundling around town or cruising along the motorway. From experience travelling on the motorway you can pick up road noise from the Pirelli tyres depending on the road surface. This can be easily remedied by choosing another make of tyres for your A2. The car is acceptable to cross winds and can be buffeted about on flat open spaces but to date we haven?t had any problems with the cars handling in high winds. I brought my Audi straight from the local main dealer and had now problems with service. The A2, we brought was in fact an ex demonstrator and had 7,500 miles on the clock, when we purchased the car. We have now managed to do a further 7,500 miles since we brought the car and it?s now due for it?s first service. That?s right the car is serviced every 15,000 miles or every two years depending on your mileage. I have been reliable informed by local dealer that the service will cost £285 including VAT. It sounds expensive but putting it into perspective thats £142.50 per year servicing cost, which is not that far away from your average Ford Fiesta servicing costs at about £120 a service. Another major benefit is that your annual road fund licence is about £60 per annum. This coupled with cheap insurance for the car makes it a winner in my opin
ion. The interior of the car is spacious for such a small car and can adequately accommodate 4 adults. I?m 6ft 2 and often have problems with other makes of cars with seating position. We have found even with me driving that we can accommodate a 6ft plus person in the back with ample space without being cramped. A great design feature is that the backs seat can be taken completely out of the car to allow you to maximise your carrying load. This is great asset to have especially if you go shopping at Ikea!!!? The A2 also offers a split boot compartment, which we find handy for putting a weekly shopping in and stops it from slipping around the boot as you take home. My overall opinion if you need a small car with a luxurious feel but you still want economy then the A2 maybe for you?
