Audi is a name that elicits a certain expectation, "Vorsprung Durch Technik" and all that!!! The A3 does not fall short of that expectation. Overall the car looks sturdy and purposeful and somehow more imposing than its size would suggest. Once inside it is like sitting in your favorite armchair.
On the road progression is smooth and relaxing but you soon realise you have on tap a quite potent power unit when you need it power is fed rapidly and smoothly (no noticeable kick from the turbo). Quick enough as it is there are stronger contenders in the hot hatch stakes but, believe me, it is definitely no slouch!!!
Economy is not too bad, mid-thirties to be expected, hard driving will bring the mpg down alarmingly. Audi parts are on the pricey side and often after market parts are not available or even they are more costly than you would want. Reliabilty has been quite good though, so no problem there.
