The audi R8 is a four whhel drive mid engined sports car. It was manufactured by qautro (a private branch of audi) and is derived from the Lamborghini Gallardo. It was designed as a race car but from 2006 almost 10,000 were built to be sold to the public. The road car was launched at the paris motor show in september 2006 but there was some confusion with the name as it shared it with the R8 Le mans prototype.
