... is sometimes said that a camel is a horse designed by a committee. I have always had a similar problem with the A6. To me it looks as though Audi called in about 8 members of their design team and gave them each a bit of the car to design. Audi A3 in general ... car ownership has been largely split between Rover and Audi. I love the history of Audi and the cars they have created from the great Auto unions upto to the R8. But the quality of the cars I have used have been dire. Infact i struggle to find a good thing to say about there normal models. So the A3? Mine has a head gasket failure at 50k. All the trim is falling off. Oh, a wheel bearing is on its way out to. And dont try to work on one. I can see why it cost so much to take one to a garrage. I have done some work on them myself and they are awful. And not only is the engine apparently unreliable its a bit flat in 1600 form. There are good bits, The way its put to... Audi S3 ... Mk1 Audi S3 built from 99 till 2003 and based on the A3 model it is the flagship of that range. there were 2 variants the 210bhp (99-02) and the 225nhp (02-03). Both Had the same 1.8 liter straight 4cylinder Turbocharged engine, the second had a variable valve timing to increase the bhp output. Manufacturer stated a 0-62 of 6 seconds. It was dubbed a Quattro as it used a 4 wheel drive system to distribute the power to where it was needed the most. The S3 was officially sold in Uk, Europe, Mexico and Australia but not officially in the USA. Audi A4 1.9 TDI 110 / 115 HP ... have completed 33000 miles in 11 months in my 55 plate facelifted 1.9 TDI SE. Pros Good starting, terrific grunt and low down torque. Added passengers do not slow this car down and it will pull like a train up hill with a full cabin. I have the Audi CD player and speaker system which is the best I have had in any car for sound quality. It does however lack steering wheel controls for the audio. The radio has a mind of its own and each time it is switched on it will select a station at random irrespective of which pre set was used before and still showing as selected on its display.
