Audi TT Roadster Quattro
by researchqueen I've owned my Audi TT 3.2 for 6 years now.. I bought it brand new and it was the second most expensive purchase I'd made (after my house!) However I've had some ups and downs with her and thought I'd share my experience with others who are thinking of buying one. I do get ribbed for it being a hairdressers car, however my ... response is usually 'do you know many hairdressers that can afford one of these then'... however this doesn't put me off driving her at all... The 2004 model I have is very round and is bigger than it looks inside.. testiment to this was giving a lift to my 6ft 3 boss a few years ago and he managed to fit in which I think even he was surprised at... the headlights do have opaque and clear glass in them and the clear glass looks like a squashy heart to me but I'm a girl and I'm sure all the men driving them would completely disagree.. Mine has two chrome exhausts which keep clean well with a metal cleaner, however the Audi badge under the spoiler can get quite a bit of build up which needs a good scrub to get it off... the pressure washer doesn't get it off alone.. The layout inside the car is well though out...one of the (many) reasons I preferred the TTR over the Z4 is because of the glass wind shield which comes up behind the seats. There are alot of convertibles out there where you have to physically put in the wind shield yourself and then you have to find somewhere to store it (usually behind the seat!) Nice touch.. It has a first aid kit behind the passenger seat and I opted to upgrade to have a sub woofer which nestles nicely between the seats too. It is nicely finished off with silver outlining the air blowers and also there is a silver flap over the stereo so you can opt to hide this away if you want. As its 4 wheel drive it corners very well as you would expect.. I have a particular love of flooring it around roundabouts just to see how well she handles if I'm honest! It's a comfortable drive though as I've travelled to Scotland in her and I didn't get out with backache... and if you put the car into sports it becomes really twitchy as the engine allows more air into the engine however prepare to watch your fuel gauge go down... In standard auto the transmission is smooth and this would be largely down to the Direct Shift Gearbox which is essentially two gearboxes in the car which have preselected the gear above and below so the lag between gear changes is minimal.. in fact Jeremy Clarkson raved about this car when it first came out (although I think his opinion has changed since!) There is also the tiptronic option which is essentially changing it manually through the gears, either through the gear stick or paddles on the steering wheel. I must admit I've come unstuck with the paddles a few times though when I'm turning a tight corner and need to change down as you have the steering wheel at 180 degrees and you're trying to click the paddle! So I'll admit I've been put off using it as much as a result. As for reliability, I've had a few problems with the car and the gearbox in particular... in fact at one point I had a Fiat Panda 1.0 pull away quicker than me and I knew at that point it definitely wasn't right! However when I bought the car the DSG was very new so I would hope by now that they have sorted out any problems with it in the newer models.. There were also a few problems with the finish as one of the climate control knobs broke off and the cd player writing on it comes off if you scratch it with nails when you turn it on... the only other thing which does annoy me is that the seatbelt leaves grease on the drivers seat on the top... it does wipe off fairly easily, but even so it doesn't look that great and I have a light colour leather so it probably stands out even more...However when the car is in tip top condition it purrs like a kitten and it brings a massive smile to my face. Audi TT Roadster Quattro
by poopoo15 I had the Audi TT 3.2 Roadster quattro with 225 horsepowers last year from June to September. I had the black with black hood and the Nappa (Baseball) leather. In the time I had the car I only covered 4000 miles, but what a 4000 miles they were!! Having chosen a good time of year I actually managed to drive with the roof down, the ... electrical roof is very good, it is very quick and easy to open the roof with the push of a button. It can also lowered/raised on the move at a slow speed. The tiptronic padels are easy to use and the gear change is smooth, if a little slow. I had the automatic and was always impressed with the gear change. The steering is light & responsive. The ride is comfortable, with the cockpit been roomy. You drive in the comfort of knowing you have a sturdy Audi around you. The grip is absolutly superb probably due to the large wheels. The engine gives the car its great performance, giving a great output. The fuel consumption is on the high side, when you put your foot down, but all in all a great little convertible. Audi R8
by SAVEANDWAVE151 Having owned an Audi R8 for about 8months now I can honestly say it is the most potent, mind bending driving experience I have had. The handling is perfect to a T and acceleration is smooth and constant all the way to the best part of 190mph. So where did a car like this come from I hear you ask. Well the genes of the R8 came ... originally from Audi Le Mans Quattro Concept Car and these were very good genes as this model won it five times between 2000 and 2005. The R8 combines groundbreaking, motorsport experience, technology and design and this can be seen even from just a glance with it sitting low on road resembling a sprinter on the blocks ready for the race ahead. The central position of the engine allows for an ideal weight distribution of 44 percent to the front and 56 percent to the rear. Sweeping curves, rounded wheel arches and the distinctive air deflectors show the observer the quality of the manufacturer and model. Behind the lovely cabin of the R8 beats an awesome 4.2 V8 and the best bit is that it sits right under a glass panel with its only lighting for all to see. The naturally aspirated engine delivers a hugely satisfying 420hp, revs all the way to 8250rpm and putting down a whopping 317ft-lbs from 4500-6000. This range of power enables the R8 to navigate practically any driving situation. Lighting comes from a wonderfully constructed arrangement of reflector shells similar to pettles on a flower. Each shell contains a powerful LED (Light Emitting Diode), which produces high-luminosity, even form of driving light. A cute little touch is the extending rear spoiler, which is deployed to provide extra downforce at higher speeds. This wonderfully retracts when you come back down to earth from hitting the ridiculous speeds, which this machine is capable of. The interior is sporty and oozes quality from the styling of side windows, to the Leather/Alcantara trim of the seats and the placement/features on the central consol. The R8 hits 60mph in a shade over 4 seconds leaving all but its main rivals the mighty Porsche 911 in its wake. The transition of this wonderful machine comes from either a 6-speed manual or an optional Audi R tronic sequential-shift gearbox. Four-wheel drive come as standard and it is needed for the driving possible from this machine especially in sports mode. The comfort from driving R8 comes from is groundbreaking magnetorheological liquid which is influenced by an electromagnetic field. This changes the viscosity of the liquid. Two modes are available depending on the driving you are doing, sensors track the way you are driving to change the voltage delivered from the electromagnets. This is all very clever and really makes the drive as smooth as possible. The stereo is second to none with it being a 465-watt Bang and Olufsen masterpiece. Overall I can't rate this car highly enough it is the most engaging car I have ever had the chance of owning and I driving and I would highly recommend anyone to give one a test drive if you can't afford one.
