Firstly performance - The car has a 140 hp 2.2 litre diesel engine which although not phenominal produces enough power to hold it's own against most cars, it has very good overtaking punch. The 320d has one major fault, the turbo can go at any time and can cost upto £3.500 to fix. BMW UK say it is not a fault but when you check the net for "faulty turbo bmw" you will see its wide spread. I would advise anyone thinking of a 320d to think again.

There are some great deals around on the BMW 3 series at the moment if you shop around. I got an 05 plate during 2008 for £8500. I've owned a 2001 320d Touring, the 136 Bhp model, for 2 years now, its been a reliable car, excellent for cruising in on long journeys. This is my first BMW, and I am sorry to say my last. The 320d has a reputation for turbo failure, which I believe applies only to pre July 2003 models.
