In my 2 years owning a 6 spd 540i sport I can easily say it is the finest driving machine on the road today. With the V8 there is no need to step up to the M5 (unless you just want to say youhave one). My car has been trouble free over is 55000km life. If you are looking for a true sports sedan and enjoy spirited driving this car is a must have. In the past I have had an Audi A6 4.2, Benz E420 and a Lexus GS300, let me tell you that none of these cars come close to the 540, if I had known how good the 540 was I wouldn't have wasted my time with the other cars. Ok, who on earth needs a car that has a perfectly good 2.5 litre engine equivelent - to have 4.4 litres?! Is there really any need>? Well apart from the very low miles per gallon - less than 27! There is a very powerful brute of a car lurking underneath this sleek and smooth esecutive beasty Motor. With 4.4 litres and a cracking V8 engine - the car simply flies - almost as quick as an M5 - without all the body kits - this is a very modest car.
