 ... 735i. Its surprising how such a BIG car can handle like a go-kart (well as near to one as poss). Inside the car has loads of room. But at the same time as being massive inside its still cozy an very comfortable. The car has the DSP sound system, and it sounds lot better than most modern cars i have been in. I brought this car back in April 2006 when i was 21, after dreaming of owning a E38 7-series since 1994 when they first came out. Did The car live up too your dream? YES. It performs very well in all area. Performance: The actual E38 7-series i have is a 1997 740i auto. Being a 1997 car , she has the newer 4.4 liter V8 under its long wide bonnet. The newer engine is a better all rounder than the previous V8. The only reason i avoided the older V8 used in this car cause it had a nikisil problem, which basically means that lining on the cylinders wore away due to the petrol we use today. Bond drove one, but that didn’t influence me. I’ve had two BMW 740s within the last 3 years and these cars are a quantum leap on their predecessor. The aggressive purposeful styling is just right. The engine is actually 4.4 litres on the current model and not 4, as the badging might suggest. As expected, the engine is gutsy and refined; and produces a lovely V8 snarl higher in the rev range. Allied to a slick 5 speed automatic (with tiptronic override) the car can make ferocious progress.
