Advantages: Great driving experience

Disadvantages: Small size will not suit everyone

I love my mini and certainly BMW have done a great job of bringing back this classic car, mine is just over three years old and I bought t for £4,000 about a year ago from a friend.

The interior is nice and stylish with a big retro dial in the center of the dash board which is easy to read what ever your driving position. The rest of the interior is well designed with clean lines and an eye for detail. I find the seats really comfortablke as well and it is a smooth ride, the longest drive I have done without a stop was a two hour trip that included both motorway and highway driving and it was very comfortable with absolutely no aches or pains or stiffness.

The real thrill with this car is the driving experience, because the front end is so small and you sit nice and low on the road then there is a great sensation of speed, forty miles an hour feels more like sixty and the only real draw back with this car is the risk of losing your licence through speeding fines so you have towatch out for the speed cameras.

In the town is handles really well, it is small so parking is easy with good peripheral vision all round, I find the clutch really smooth so it is good in congestion and although the gear box is quite closely set up it is easy to get used to and just adds to the whole sporty feel of the car as you rattle through the gear box when building up acceleration.

On the open road it handles like a dream, the cornering is excellent and it feels as though it is stuck to the road, the 1.6 engine provides 90 bhp which in a small car means it has great acceleration and is competent when it comes to over taking. The only time I find a weakness with this car is on the motorway as you can feel a slight wobble kick in when it hits the high eighties. Other than that the steering is really responsive and it corners well especially on ong sweeping bends where it really hugs the road.

Fuel consumption is good, I reckon on getting 50 mpg on the open road and slightly less in the towns, also a friend does the servicing which works out at £99 a time so itis a cheap car to maintain.

In terms of other features the heating system is good and the CD player is the original one and has good sound quality. There is limited storage space and certainly the boyfriend finds it a bit small but then he is six foot three, for a shortie like me the car is ideal although the space in the back of the car has limited leg room and the boot can just about handle a weekend bag and not a lot more.

This is a great little car and a lot of fun to drive.

Summary: A great iconic car.
