Advantages: Auto 4WD, cheap luxury motoring

Disadvantages: none so far

I bought my 2001 Chevy Blazer a couple of years ago. I've always liked American cars and the thought of having one with right hand drive for every day use really appealed. I don't do many miles so fuel consumption was not really an issue. What I hadn't realised when I bought it was just how useful this vehicle would be. I just can't believe how much space there is. Annual clear outs used to involve half a dozen trips to the local tip, one trip now does the trick.

No denying it's a big car but it's so easy to drive, it just eats motorway miles, with the cruise control and absolute joy to use. The automatic 4WD takes the guess work out of poor road conditions by switching between two and four wheel drive as and when required.

Servicing has caused no problems and has been carried out by my local garage, who seem to have had no trouble securing spare parts. Consumable spares (filters etc.) are sourced locally and the only none consumable part I've required, in over two years of ownership, (hand brake cable) was sourced from the main dealer and arrived next day, at a very reasonable cost.

Finally and the biggest surprise of all is the unbelievable fuel consumption. As I said previously, fuel cost were not an issue really but figures in excess of 25mpg are quite incredible considering the powerful 4.3 Lt petrol engine.

Overall I have been very pleased during the time I been a Chevy owner and would not hesitate to recommend the Blazer to anyone looking for an SUV.

Summary: Buy one, you won't be disappointed
