In some ways, the history of the Corvette closely mirrors the post war history of the American Auto industry and yet, it was a vehicle unlike any other. In the 47 years since the first example rolled off the early makeshift production line in Flint, Michigan, there have been no less than five completely different body shapes and countless variants. The early cars, from ’53 to ’62 were known as the C1. The C2’s, the so-called “mid-year” cars, were built between ’63 and ’67.
