Advantages: Cool, Sexy, Fast
Disadvantages: Hard to get a fast one, Not good for beach
Hello, I finally have been able to afford to buy my very own personal car and I have been fortunate enough to buy this car, my ultimate dream car. This is not merely an automobile but the admission ticket to a deck lifestyle. I have never been this happy.
I better explain that I have been re-married and have moved to a beach resort area in Florida (USA). I have a business with my grandson, we rent out those chopper looking bicycles for people to ride around on the beach. We also sell Fish tacos at our stand but we have been ordered to desist this activity, some vague nonsense about licences and handling food with chain grease on my hands. I Thought they were just fishing for a bribe but they were serious and now I can't sell any more fish tacos. I enjoy working with my grandson, it is a good bonding experience for us, and although the age difference causes some problems we do ok. My grandson is like two years older than me and thinks he can boss me around because he finished high school and I didn't. See I married his grandmother, it was sort of a april-November relationship, i guess more of a late february-mid december relationship. But I married his grandmother because she said she would take care of me and she gets a railroad pension and getting married to me prevents her womanizing lorry driving French Canadien ex-husband from getting very much money, but I am not here to justify my love and I don't feel like it is any of your business about who loves who and what I am doing with me life and I don't need you telling me I am wrong for being with her. We have a nice condo in the senior development although a crocodile ate our Shiatzu dog. We play bingo two times a week and love each other and I don't need to listen to any noise because I am 31 and she is 67, that is none of your business.
Anyways I spend my days on the beach hanging around fixing the bicycles and complementing young women on their temporary tribal tattoos. I have the weight bench right at my shop and get in a few reps here and there. I get my chest waxed and I bought some cool t-shirts with dragons. I would look back at my whole little world and I wondered, "What is missing" and I decided it was my 1996 Caprice classic. But I really don't make a whole lot of money and I knew I needed a quintessential beach car. Then this whole Terri Schiavo thing blew up and was on the news so I started to take bets at the fish taco stand on when she would die. I ended up making about $8000 extra when she held on for so long . No one gave her much credit.
SO anyways I went out and got me a PT Cruiser. I dreamt of owning this car back when I was living in surrey and they came out in 2001. It was so distinctive and such a fresh design compared to all the other cars out there. There is no better car to cruise the strip or park at the beach. I though more people would get into them and turn it into the new Beetle. Initially people were paying thousands over the sticker price to get one but now the demand has waned, partially due to the introduction of some nice new estate wagons with the So-Cal flair. The PT cruiser has been often ridiculed for its poor selection of engines, as far as you can't buy one with any muscle. Another thing that sucks is that you can only get a 15 gallon gas tank. It only gets 22 mpg in town and 29 on the road, but as far as I am concerned that gives me more chances to pull into the filling station and get to see everyone staring at me, I like to think it is because they envy my ride but then when I pull away they shout derisive things about my wife. This current year finally made a good motor available. It used to only have a 4 banger 150 horses, now there is a 220 horse turbo charged engine available. Also in 2005 I was able to get an awesome little feature, a 12 volt plug in the back, so I can plug in my telly or radio when I park on the beach to watch the sunset with Henrietta. Sometimes she likes me to plug in a fan in the plug but lots of time she likes to be in bed before it gets so late.
I got a 5 speed manual but then I took it back and got the 4 speed automatic because it just seemed easier to cruise that way, I had to tell everyone that it had a recall and that the only one they had available was the one with an automatic so please don't tell my friends the truth. I don't really care for the gearing ratios, ostensibley this car is for cruising and all that but meanwhile they want to make it for families to drive on the highway. So while you think the car would be made to dig out of the sand it is just set up like a highway car.
Mine ended up costing about $21,000 which would be a lot for a similar car if my wasn't so cool. I got a good warranty but it is basically stock without too many options.
I love my car a lot, I just regret that it isn't really what it looks like it is. It really isn't the vintage beach car. I know how cool I look flossing in mine with my Isane Clown Posse graphics airbrushed all over it, my low profile tyres, blaring out some dropkick murphies (through my good 6 speaker set up that came stock), I guess to think about it no other car could be this cool, but really as cool as I am , I would make any car that I drove cool just because I drive it. I just think there is harmony and balance in the world when I see my car sitting there with the boards on top (surf decks), the hawaiain flower graphics and a chest of cold Dr Pop in the back. Yeah I know that it helps me pretend that life is ok
