I needed a new car quickly, and was offered the chance to buy a Citroen AX 1.5D. I have to say I was sceptical as I'd never had a diesel car before and had some pre-conceived ideas that they were noisy and sluggish and the spares cost a fortune. Well I was certainly proved wron on the first two. I could not be more delighted with my AX. I've had it for two years now,and the main thin for me is that it is SO economical on fuel. I did a 400 mile round trip a couple of weekends ago, very little of which was on decent roads and I spent less than £30 on diesel. The AX is stylish and has a really nice shape. It isn't sluggish at all and I can hold my own on the A1. My only gripe is that spares and servicing are a bit pricey, but having used the local Citroen dealer,they've always been great and I've felt highly valued as a customer.
